     Boneis formed by the gradual addition of Calcium and Phosphorus salts to cartilage,a type of dense connective tissue. This process of ossification [n.骨化]beginsbefore birth and continues to adulthood. Although bone appears to be inert[adj.不活泼的，惰性的，无生命力的], it is actually living tissue that is constantly being replacedand remodeled[v.重构] throughout life. Three Types ofcells are involved in these changes.

     1、Osteoblasts，成骨细胞the cells that produce bone. They areresponsible for the synthesis, deposition, and mineralization of the bonematrix.

     *matrix vesicle 基质小泡

     2、Osteocytes,骨细胞 maturebone cells that help to maintain bone tissue. Osteocytes are scattered withinits matrix[n.基质], interconnected[v.相互连接] by numerousdendritic processes[n.树突] to form a complex cellular network[n.细胞网络]

     *骨陷窝 bone lacunae

     *骨小管 osteoclast

    

     3、Osteoblasts, 破骨细胞involved inthe breakdown of bone tissue to release needed minerals or to allow forreshaping and repair.
