     In the eyes of Chinese tourists, South Africa is famous for Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, casinos, diamonds, gold mines, wines, etc.

     However, besides these standard and classic tours, South Africa has many less-known tourism attractions for you to explore. Little Karoo, often known as the Klein Karoo, is just one of those.

     一提起南非二字，首先想到的是什么？开普敦，桌山，好望角？赌场，钻石，金矿？不然就是葡萄酒、野生动物和民族文化村？其实，除了这些最经典的旅游项目之外，南非还有许多小众景点在等待着大家前来一探究竟。小卡鲁地区就是这样一个地方。

    

     The Klein Karoo may initially appear bleak, but it has a wide variety of accommodations and activities and is one of the most unique and beautiful parts of South Africa, sandwiched between impressive mountains that offer ever-changing vistas. Here are ostriches striding at ostrich farms, meerkats enjoying sunshine and Cango Caves, a truly spectacular natural wonder.

     乍一看，小卡鲁地区可能略显荒凉，然而，这里却是南非最独特、最具代表性的地区之一：在这里，有呆萌的鸵鸟在专门的鸵鸟农场里昂首阔步，有可爱的猫鼬成群出没，还有曲折神秘的地下岩洞在等待着勇敢之士前来探索。

     小卡鲁地区的奥茨颂是世界鸵鸟之都，奥茨颂也是小卡鲁地区最大的镇子。这里是世界上最大鸵鸟聚居区，一座座鸵鸟农场矗立在苍茫的大地上。Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, is the largest town in the Klein Karoo region. Oudtshoorn is home to the world's largest ostrich population, with a number of specialized ostrich breeding farms。

     在这里，你有无数机会可以和鸵鸟零距离接触，同它们长着长长睫毛的大眼睛安静地对视，可以让这些神奇的动物伸出长长的脖子，从你摊开的掌心中直接啄食饲料。每天，鸵鸟农场都会举行别开生面的骑鸵鸟比赛。尽管每只鸵鸟的重量多大160kg，他们奔跑的速度可以达到70km/h。

     Here, you could get as close as it's possible to ostrich and see their beautiful eyes; feed them and even watch jockeys racing them. Although ostrich weigh as much as 160 kg, they can run as fast as 70 km per hour.

     With help from professionals, you could also ride ostrich and even stand on ostrich eggs. Don't worry, the egg is hard enough.

     Do you still remember the meerkat which gained global fame through the movie Life of Pi? Meerkat in South Africa have adventures every day. As a tourist, you could also join them if you have patience as well as love for this cute creature. All you have to do is to get up at dawn and wait a few hours at the plains.还记得因为《少年派的奇幻漂流》而一炮走红的猫鼬吗？在南非的小卡鲁地区也每天都在上演着猫鼬们的奇幻之旅——而想要看到这些可爱的小生命，你需要的只是在黎明时分早早起床、在草原上等待几个小时，以及一颗热爱小动物的心和一点点的耐心。

     Meerkat hate cold and would only show up when sunshine enters their caves. By that time, your experienced guide would have found the perfect spot to watch them. And you could wait for them on a comfortable chair and to get to know their interesting life in their natural habitat.

     猫鼬又叫做狐獴，它们讨厌寒冷，所以只会在阳光照到它们洞穴上的时候出现。到了那个时候，你那经验丰富的向导已经在周围的草原上侦查了好一会儿了，而你也已经坐在摆在距离它们洞口不远处的折叠椅上等待有一阵了，正准备在它们的自然栖息环境中窥探它们那有趣的生活。

     After a while, you would see a little nose and then a cute face pop out. There is always one meerkat acting like a sentry. The sentry would face the sun with its forelimb beside its body. The sunshine will make its belly very warm. You could see its head turning around with its eyes checking out the surrounding environment. It will closely check for humans, grass as well as the sky, where its natural enemies will appear.

     When they all get warmed, the meerkat babies would play around while the adults are looking for food. After an hour, which is their breakfast time, they would soon separate and disappear.

     刚果洞

     Despite being named Cango Caves, the caves have nothing to do with Congo. Cango caves are about 29 km away from Oudtshoorn. The adventure is not suitable for everyone. It is said only the brave could have a glimpse of the caves.

     虽然被成为“刚果洞”(Cango Caves)，这个神秘的洞穴可和刚果(Congo)没什么关系。刚果洞位于南非西开普省的小卡鲁地区，距离奥茨颂只有29公里。刚果洞神秘之旅并不适合每一个人，只有最勇敢的勇者才能得以一窥这处秘境的真容。

     When the caves were discovered about 200 years ago, it took more than nine hours to explore the caves. Well, now, it only takes about two hours with experienced guide and well-equipped lights.

     在200多年前这里刚被发现之初，探索刚果洞要花上九个小时；然而时至今日，只需两个小时就可以在这片神秘之所留下终生难忘的的美好回忆。出发之时，会由一位经验丰富、学识渊博的洞穴探险向导带领大家，一步步深入那些错综复杂的洞穴。

     刚一踏入洞穴之中，迎面而来的就是一阵暖意和湿气。洞穴里有着充分的照明，再加上向导耐心细致的讲解，大家便不会错过任何一点自然奇观——嶙峋的岩层、高大的石柱、神奇的钟乳石和美丽的水晶，当它们一一映入眼帘的时候，你会不得不惊叹大自然的鬼斧神工，仿佛身处幻想中的世界。在游览了根据钟乳石不同形状所命名的克娄巴特拉方尖碑、比萨斜塔、圣母和圣婴、水晶宫、所罗门王的宝藏、魔鬼烟囱、魔鬼工厂之后，你还需要屏息凝神，努力缩小自己的身躯，奋力爬过那只有27厘米高的、陡峭狭窄的猎豹之路——这是唯一的出口。然后突然之间，光明降临，你又重见天日，回到了那个让你习以为常的现实世界。
